Please welcome the new Vice Chair of the ASIS&T Metro NY chapter: Rebecca Shows!
From Rebecca’s statement of candidacy:
In the past six years, I have built a career as a user advocate in web and library environments. Recently, I have worked as a software implementation manager for a nonprofit which delivers cultural heritage images online. Traveling to campuses and conferences, I have presented to and built relationships with university administrators, librarians and IT. Internally, my role involves liaising between business units, UX, and developers, providing feedback from users and influencing prioritization throughout iterative development cycles.
My background in recreation leadership will be uniquely relevant as my fieldwork entailed facilitating programming and group dynamics. Other experience includes administering acquisitions at Sarah Lawrence College. At SLC, I collaborated with systems and reference librarians to support the adoption of a web-based ILS system and participated in collection development. Previously, I managed circulation at a library branch in Madison, Wisconsin, and served as VP of the Staff Association. Working in nonprofit and startup contexts also prepares me for the all-hands-on-deck approach necessary to launch new projects.
We are pleased to add Rebecca’s skills, experience, and enthusiasm to the board. Stay tuned for an event announcement coming soon!
